14th July, 2026
Maurice and Jenevora have worked together many times in the past, combining the clinical experience of Maurice’s speech and language therapy, and of course his performing experience as a singer. Jenevora brings her years of teaching, researching, writing, and working in rehabilitation settings.
This day is the result of many conversations; we are always trying to think of new ways to work, ways of collaborating, building bridges, and enabling the singer to have more autonomy over their process.
This is a chance for singers to have an input from both of us, and it’s a chance for teachers to observe and participate in this process. This way of working is organic, collaborative, creative, and arises out of the moment with imagination, intuition, and most importantly, the input of the singer themself.
Singers can come for an idea of ways to improve, with specific vocal challenges, or just to explore new possibilities. Observers will also participate, the whole room will be involved.
The Day
Come and join Maurice Goodwin and Jenevora Williams for a day of exploration in voice. Two leaders in vocal pedagogy working jointly with open minds and hearts.
For this day we are inviting singers (£80 each) and observers (£40 each), both singers and observers will participate in the activity of the day.
Each singer will have at least 45mins with Jenevora and Maurice, and we will have an accompanist for the day. We will be at a venue in Shoreditch and will be filmed.
What do you expect from a masterclass, and why might this be different?
Your experience will be created as two leading pedagogues explore and examine your sound and feeling, their responses, and the ideas from the other participants. This iterative process of discovery will empower you with courage, competence and confidence.
What should I prepare, will this be a vocal health session?
It will be whatever you want it to be. Bring some familiar repertoire (and please let us know in advance so we can provide a copy for the accompanist). It’s not a day for vocal health diagnosis, it’s a chance for you to discover things you didn’t know about your singing. That may be related to health and wellbeing, it may be an emotional shift, it could be identity and role-play, it may be a technical re-boot.
What will I gain as an observer?
All observers are invited to contribute and ask questions. The participants will be at different levels, ages, and musical genres. There will be plenty to learn and discover.
Why is it being filmed?
Each participant will be given a film of their part of the day. With permission from the people involved, some of the material may be used for demonstration and teaching purposes after the event.
